Between Two Worlds

Fourteen years ago I had to flee from my country of birth, Iraq. Loaded with stories and memories I ended up here, in a different world with a totally different visual culture. In using photographic images I try to visualize the borderline between these two worlds.

Nowadays, the issue of the involvement of society in the visual arts is often discussed. Obviously there are more questions than there are answers. The multitude of opinions on this issue, also called commitment, makes it a complex issue to describe. It is certain that there is a commitment to art which is also called a new commitment. It is again time for society to become involved.
